Gynaecological Rehabilitation
Following large or complicated gynaecological operations, impairment of certain functions and chronic pains - or depressive reactions to loss of an organ - are often experienced, these frequently reducing the patient's quality of life and thereby limiting her capabilities. This holds in particular for gynaecological cancer patients who are in any case under enormous emotional and psychological stress.
The purpose of gynaecological rehabilitation is to treat the consequences of such gynaecological surgery as early, as completely and as effectively as possible, in order to help prevent development of chronic pathogenesis.
This serves to : -
- correct therapy-related malfunctions
- optimize the results following incontinence operations or relaparotomy
- avoid psychological maladaptation and incorrect psycho-sexual processing
- provide a sociomedical assessment
- avoid unnecessary nursing-care requirements
